Individual Tax Returns

At Canberra Tax Solutions, we offer face-to-face and mobile appointments to our Canberra clients. Our online or phone service caters to those who cannot attend our office. Our services are designed to help everyone navigate the complexities of tax laws, regardless of geographical location.

From standard to the more complex, we prepare individual tax returns daily and can catch things you may otherwise have missed or not considered to claim without consulting an accountant.

Defence Force Members Tax Returns

Tax rules and regulations can become complex when serving defence force members, especially if you have a spouse who is not in the defence force or dependent children.

At Canberra Tax Solutions, we understand the complexities of defence force personnel tax returns. We have extensive experience with the Army, Navy and Air Force across all ranks and specialties, including DVA compensation payments and Medicare Levy exemptions.

Multi Year Outstanding Tax Lodgements

If you have missed a tax deadline or have outstanding or overdue tax returns, Canberra Tax Solutions can help.

We will check your current lodgement status with the ATO to discover what details have been reported and any outstanding years.

We will then work closely with you to bring your outstanding lodgements up to date as soon as possible. We can access much of your return history and data directly through the government portal, back to 2009 (further via contact with the ATO).

Second Look Assessments and Amendments

Do you think you may have missed a deduction?

If you are not sure that you have received your maximum refund or want to review your previous tax return, we can undertake a second-look assessment on your behalf.

The aim is to ensure that you receive all the deductions and rebates you are entitled to. If we find any errors, we will file an amendment to refund any missing money.

Working Holiday Makers (WHM) Returns

Working holidaymakers in Australia should know that tax will be withheld from their pay, and they must lodge a tax return each year. Holders of subclass 462 (Work and Holiday) and subclass 417 (Working Holiday) visas are typically classified as non-residents for tax purposes, regardless of how long they stay in Australia.

Employers that are hiring WHMs must register with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to apply the correct tax rates. This ensures that working holidaymakers meet their tax obligations while working and travelling across Australia.

ATO Clearance Certificate

Are you selling Australian Real Estate? Since January 1st 2025, the rate has increased to 15% for all property sales, regardless of the value.

A clearance certificate is issued by the Australian Tax Office (ATO) to confirm that a seller is an Australian resident for tax purposes. When selling Australian real estate, you must provide this certificate to the buyer before settlement.

Without this certificate, the purchaser is required by law to withhold 15% of the sale price to cover foreign resident capital gains withholding (FRCGW), even if the seller is an Australian tax resident.
